Louise Duncan Ayrshire Ladies Champion 2019

A beautiful day at Turnberry today for the semi final and final of our County Championship.

This morning Louise Duncan booked a place in her first final by winning her match against Sharon Lambie and Audrey Thompson reached her second final winning on the 18th green against Jenny Linklater.

Great golf was played by both players in the afternoon, a good match to watch for the 20 ladies who came to support.  Louise won the match on the 15th hole with her 4th birdie of the round.

Congratulations Louise on her first County Championship.

Thanks to Turnberry for their kind hospitality this week.

After the prize giving the draw was made for the 4 ball vouchers -

King Robert the Bruce - Jill Fox
Dundonald - Sandra Johnson
Ballochmyle - Audrey Thompson

Well done to all the ladies who took part at the West Vets Spring Meeting at Glasgow Gailes. By all accounts it was a horrible wet and windy day, I take my hats off to all those who endured and made it round. Obviously Ayrshire is just keeping the good weather for the championships in a couple of weeks.

Beetle Drive

Don't miss out on this years Beetle Drive, next Tuesday 19 March at Irvine Golf Club, bring your friends along for a fun evening. If you don't have a ticket then you can pay at the door.

Gin night!

Great to see so many ladies support ALCGA gin tasting night. Despite the professional Gin expert cancelling last minute, we were determined not to let the ladies down.
So with the help of Brian behind the bar, we still produced Gin cocktails, mocktails and flavoured Gin Shots. Which seemed to go down well, by the empty glasses.

There was also a raffle, and a game of bingo to keep us entertained, while we waited for the star attraction “The Barassie Lassies and The Loudoun Lady” which was a 7 piece ukulele band. Everyone joined in and sang along to well known hits from the 60s

The committee sported the new style polo shirts which are available to buy, and more available at the championship at Turnberry. Beetle drive tickets for the event at Irvine Bogside GC 19th March went on sale, lots sold so limited tickets still available so if interested please contact your club rep or a committee member ASAP.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support, hope you all enjoyed your evening, and we look forward to seeing all of you at The Beetle Drive

Captain's Letter 2019

January 2019

A Happy New Year to all members of Ayrshire Ladies County Golf Association.

I can’t believe we’re almost into the third week of the New Year, and I have already discarded all the New Years resolution I made!

We would like to thank all our members for their support and encouraging ladies into golf and, as a result of recruitment posters, we have 15 new members which is fantastic. I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all of them.

2019 is a big year for ladies golf in Ayrshire, we are hosting The West of Scotland inter county golf championship at Prestwick Golf Club on June 17-19 where the ALCGA team will be looking for your support - we are always looking for trolley pullers, ball spotters and spectators.

.
We are also celebrating 110 years of ALCGA which is a fantastic achievement, thanks to all our members over the years for their continued support.

The date for the rearranged gin tasting night is Tuesday 19th February; there will be Mocktails for those of you who are driving along with cocktails for those not so keen on Gin. The original tickets can still be used. Please contact any of the committee if additional tickets are now required.

A quick reminder that subscriptions are now due and can be paid by cheque, bank transfer or competition vouchers. Please encourage your friends to come and join us this year, we have some fantastic courses on the fixture, as well as having good fun at our social nights.

Thanks again for all your support and hope to see you on the Ayrshire fairways.

Always yours
Liz Wilson
