Captains message

Dear Member May I take this opportunity as your Captain for 2017 to wish you all the very best for the year ahead. Although last years weather was not the best, it was again kind to Ayrshire ladies on most of our competition days, and I hope this year we find ourselves back to golfing in tee shirts, with less wind and rain. Hopefully most of you who can, have paid your fees on line, but we still take cheques and of course any new friends you have that would like to join would be very welcome. 3 Ayrshire team players picked for Scotland

Connie Jaffrey is once again selected to represent Scotland at Ladies level in the Home Internationals at Conwy in Wales next week.   For the first time the L.G.U. are staging the Ladies and Girls Internationals at the same time over the same venue.   Hazel MacGarvie, recent winner of the Scottish Girls' Championship, and Louise Duncan have both been selected for the Girls' team. Best Wishes Connie, Hazel and Louise, from all your Ayrshire buddies!

Hazel is Scottish Girls' Champion!!

Hazel MacGarvie (Troon Ladies) won the Scottish Girls' Championship at Baberton today after beating Jillian Farrell (Cardross) with an eagle 2 at the first play-off hole after they finished tied on 3 under par 71.   The Championship format had to be changed due to flooding after the two rounds of stroke-play qualifying on Tuesday, so instead of matchplay from there, it was decided on one round of strokeplay today.   Hazel's two 72's had left her tied first after the qualifying but this counted for nothing so it all came down to the round today.   Excellent scoring Hazel, and holding your nerve in the play-off to have an eagle!   Awesome!   Many congratulations from all of us in Ayrshire.   Louise Duncan (West Kilbride) had a 76 today for a top 10 finish.   Well done Louise.
