Hazel is Scottish Girls' Champion!!

Hazel MacGarvie (Troon Ladies) won the Scottish Girls' Championship at Baberton today after beating Jillian Farrell (Cardross) with an eagle 2 at the first play-off hole after they finished tied on 3 under par 71.   The Championship format had to be changed due to flooding after the two rounds of stroke-play qualifying on Tuesday, so instead of matchplay from there, it was decided on one round of strokeplay today.   Hazel's two 72's had left her tied first after the qualifying but this counted for nothing so it all came down to the round today.   Excellent scoring Hazel, and holding your nerve in the play-off to have an eagle!   Awesome!   Many congratulations from all of us in Ayrshire.   Louise Duncan (West Kilbride) had a 76 today for a top 10 finish.   Well done Louise.

INNES McQUEEN TROPHY MATCH - Ayrshire ladies team retain McQueen trophy at Loudoun

The Ayrshire Ladies County Golf Association team recorded a second successive victory over the Ayrshire Golf Association team when the annual match for the Innes McQueen Trophy was contested at Loudoun Gowf Club on Sunday 8th May.

The ALCGA team won the trophy for the first time in 2015 and kept possession of the cup for a second year with a 3 - 1 victory in this years match.

Roz Purdom and Catherine Malcolm led off for the ladies team in the opening foursome, against Stuart Robin and Craig Telfer, and secured the first point with a 2 & 1 victory.

Lorna Ronnie and Jenny Linklater were in great for in the second tie against Greg Telfer and Michael Smyth, eventually winning their tie by 6 & 5

Alison Malcolm and Claire McLaughlin played Jack Broun and Callum Irving in the first of the two under 20 year old ties, with the tie going to the final green before the girls won through by two holes to give the ladies team an unbeatable 3 - 0 lead in the match.

In the final tie on the course, Elliot Spence and Sean Addie prevented a whitewash, winning by one hole against Katy Hiill and Rachel Foster, to give a final match score of 3 - 1 in favour of the Ayrshire Ladies County Golf Association team.

Ayrshire Vice President John Rushbury, paired with Executive member John Watt, took some comfort in their 2 & 1 win in the non counting tie between county officials, against ladies captain Liz Keohone and Secretary Ann Wallace.

At the conclusion of the match, Cathie McQueen presented the Innes McQueen Trophy to the winning team captain Liz Keohone.
