Catherine Malcolm wins third Ayrshire ladies title 23 years after last win Having beaten the top seed, Emma Hale (Troon Ladies), in the mornings semi-final Catherine Malcolm (Prestwick St Cuthbert) then defeated defending champion Linzi Allan (West Kilbride) to win her third Ayrshire ladies title at the 21st hole. At the halfway mark Linzi was up by one hole and then went on to win the 10th with the first birdie of the game.  The next 2 holes were halved in pars but Catherine got one back at the short 13th when Linzi found some bunker trouble.  Catherine then squared the match at the 15th and got her first birdie of the day at 16 to go one up.  Halves at 17 meant Linzi had to win the 18th to take the game into extra holes which she duly did with a par 4. The first extra hole was halved in pars then Catherine found trouble off the tee at the 20th and had to return to the teeing ground and play a second ball.  She then produced an amazing par by chipping in from ...

AYRSHIRE - DOUBLE WINNER At the Scottish Golf Awards held at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh on Friday 20th March Connie Jaffrey (Troon) received both the SLGA Ladies and Girls Order of Merit for 2014. We are all delighted for Connie's achievement. Well done. Connie Captain

Connie represents GB&I in Australia The Astor Trophy begins tomorrow in Adelaide where GB&I will take on Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa. The competition takes place every 4 years and has been running now for over 50 years. GB&I are the reigning champions having won the event in 2011 at Fairhaven Golf Club in Lancashire. Connie is the only Scot in the team of 5 and we wish her and all the team the best of luck for the event. Secretary     
Breaking News! Connie has been selected for the 5 player G B & I team for the Astor Trophy to be played in Australia in January 2015. This is a round robin event held every 4 years against New Zealand, Canada, South Africa and Australia. Connie joins Curtis Cup players Bronte Law, Leona Maguire and Charlotte Thomas, and English Women's Stroke-Play Champion Hayley Davis. Connie earned her place in the team as the top eligible player from the L.G.U. Order of Merit. What a fabulous line-up! Congratulations Connie from all of Ayrshire! June
