AYRSHIRE LADIES COUNTY GOLF ASSOCIATION

Despite the horrendous forecast the ladies were very lucky today with the weather at Ralston with just a few showers. Fifty one players took part and there were a lot of very positive comments about how much they enjoyed the course with many ladies not having played there before. Congratulations to 2 of our members who shared the spoils at the AGA championship played at Irvine Golf Club yesterday. Audrey Thompson (Loudoun) won the scratch with a 79 and one of our up and coming youngsters, Orla Moran (Irvine), won the handicap prize with a nett 70. Well done to both 

It is with great sadness that I report the death of Past Captain, Pat Cairns Smith who celebrated her 100th birthday last year. Pat was a life long member of The Ladies Golf Club, Troon, having joined in 1939 and also had a very long lasting connection with ALCGA. She Captained the side who won the Scottish County Finals at Prestwick back in 1970. Pat is pictured seated, in the middle, with the rest of the 1970 team. Our thoughts go out to her family and friends and this sad time.
