3 Ayrshire team players picked for Scotland

Connie Jaffrey is once again selected to represent Scotland at Ladies level in the Home Internationals at Conwy in Wales next week.   For the first time the L.G.U. are staging the Ladies and Girls Internationals at the same time over the same venue.   Hazel MacGarvie, recent winner of the Scottish Girls' Championship, and Louise Duncan have both been selected for the Girls' team. Best Wishes Connie, Hazel and Louise, from all your Ayrshire buddies!

Hazel is Scottish Girls' Champion!!

Hazel MacGarvie (Troon Ladies) won the Scottish Girls' Championship at Baberton today after beating Jillian Farrell (Cardross) with an eagle 2 at the first play-off hole after they finished tied on 3 under par 71.   The Championship format had to be changed due to flooding after the two rounds of stroke-play qualifying on Tuesday, so instead of matchplay from there, it was decided on one round of strokeplay today.   Hazel's two 72's had left her tied first after the qualifying but this counted for nothing so it all came down to the round today.   Excellent scoring Hazel, and holding your nerve in the play-off to have an eagle!   Awesome!   Many congratulations from all of us in Ayrshire.   Louise Duncan (West Kilbride) had a 76 today for a top 10 finish.   Well done Louise.

County Finals

Image
A mixed weekend at Stranraer for the Scottish County Finals as far as results but a fantastic effort by the Ayrshire team against very tough opposition. Ayrshire were up against the holders, Angus, on day one and despite a valiant effort only managed one point, won by Linzi Allan in the singles on the 18th green. On Day two they faced the 2014 winners, Midlothian, again the girls played well but were up against birdies and eagles from very strong opposition. Debbie Watt and Hazel MacGarvie secured a half point in the morning foursomes, Debbie did the double by getting a half point in the afternoon, great result having been 3 down early on, and Emma Hale also halved her singles match. It was the battle for 3rd and 4th place between Ayrshire and Dumfries-shire on the final day.  Determined to leave Stranraer on a high the girls got off to a great start by winning the morning foursomes 2-1.  Needing only 3 wins out of the 6 afternoon singles Jenny Linklater and Hazel Ma...
