Junior update

After qualifying in top spot in the Scottish Girls' last week, Louise made it through to the semi-finals losing by 2 & 1 to the eventual winner Hannah Darling.   In the 2nd flight handicap matchplay competition, Claire McLaughlin (West Kilbride) reached the final losing a very close match on the 18th.   Both Louise and Claire have been invited by Scottish Golf to play in the Scottish Women's Pro-Am at Dundonald on 26th July.   I'm sure our young girls would love to see some friendly faces supporting them as they play alongside the professionals.....what a fabulous opportunity.   Congratulations girls!
Rachel Foster (Turnberry) also has lots to look forward to ðŸ˜Š   Rachel is one of 6 girls selected by Scottish Golf to experience a trip of a lifetime.   The girls will travel to Des Moines Golf & Country Club in Iowa where the Solheim Cup is to be played this year from 18th - 20th August and where Catriona Matthew is a vice-captain.   They will form part of the handover ceremony for the 2019 Solheim coming to Gleneagles.   To read the full press release visit www.scottishgolf.org/news   The girls will also be part of two Pro-Am teams competing in the Ricoh Women's British Open at Kingsbarns on 1st August.  All your hard work has paid off Rachel, very well done, you deserve these wonderful opportunities ðŸ˜Š
Ayrshire wish all three of you the Very Best as you play alongside the professionals, we know you'll be brilliant!

Scottish Girls Amateur Championship

Louise Duncan (West Kilbride) leads the qualifiers in the Scottish Girls' Amateur Championship.   In the first round yesterday at Drumoig Louise had 8 birdies in her round of 69 to be 4 under par.   2 over for 74 at Scotscraig today leaves Louise leading the field by 5 shots going into the matchplay where the top 16 scratch players will battle out for the National title.   Rachel Foster (Turnberry) had rounds of 84 and 80 to land in 16th spot so the two Ayrshire girls will meet tomorrow in the first round.   Claire McLaughlin (West Kilbride) narrowly missed out in the top flight but qualifies for the nett matchplay trophy where a further 16 girls continue on a knock-out basis.   The CSS for both days was 74.      Good luck to our three Ayrshire Girls!
As top qualifier Louise has earned a place in the Scottish Ladies Open Pro-Am at Dundonald Links on Wednesday, 26th July - what a treat to look forward to!   Well done Louise ðŸ˜Š
