Dear Member

Firstly may I wish you a Happy New Year and good golfing in 2012, I hope that this year will not be as wet and windy as 2011.

I am delighted to have taken over as County Captain and hope that my two years in office will be as successful as the last two years have been, both on and off the golf course.

The County always appreciates your support especially in the current economic climate.  We try to get value for money regarding courses, but as more golf clubs struggle to make ends meet, this becomes more difficult. We are hopeful that the increase in H’cap will encourage more ladies to join – perhaps you could help by encouraging the lady members at your club.

Enclosed with this letter is your “new look” fixture card.  The County mobile phone number is on the back page along with the names and e-mail addresses of the Committee.  If you are unable to attend a fixture on the day of competition through being stuck in traffic or delayed for any reason, please use the County mobile no. to get in touch with whoever is on desk duty. This will save club secretaries or professionals having their busy days interrupted bringing messages to the desk.

Our golf season starts with the County Championships at Troon Ladies Golf Club from Tuesday 10th to Thursday 12th April.  Please have your entries with the secretary either by post or e-mail (secretary@alcga.com) by 1st March.

The Inter-County Match Week will be held at Cardross from Mon. 21st – Wed. 23rd June.  Your support is invaluable both as a spectator or a trolley-puller.  The sight of lots of green jumpers boosts the team’s morale no end.  Sheila Shedden is taking on the job of Caddy Mistress so please volunteer your services, even if you can only manage ½ a day it would be appreciated.  I am hopeful that we can continue the run of good form that saw the team become runners-up in the Scottish County Finals last September.

This year the Curtis Cup is coming to Scotland and will be played at Nairn Golf Club from 8th – 10th June.  Sheila Adams is our “ambassador” and will be happy to give you any information regarding tickets etc.

In the meantime I look forward to seeing you all on the golf course throughout the year and thank you again for your continued support,

Yours

Despite the recent terrible weather all first round matches of the Winter Fours have been completed. Lets hope the Quarter Finals will have the same success.

A quick reminder that subs are now due and need to be paid to the treasurer Mrs. Jill West before the end of January

May I wish all our members a Merry Christmas and good golfing in 2012
